Aid to Artisans Awards Gala

Aid to Artisans [ATA], a Connecticut-based nonprofit dedicated to creating economic opportunities around the globe through support of local artisan communities, needed to raise much-needed funds and awareness amongst a New York City audience.  Bowen & Company was charged with re-organizing and re-energizing this annual fundraising event.

•Activated current event leadership and engaged a high-profile magazine editor to serve as Gala Co-Chair.

•Engaged and managed three honorees, including design legends Donna Karan and Joyce and Maya Romanoff, to reach new communities of donors.

•Integrated the organization’s rebuilding efforts in Haiti seamlessly into the evening’s theme by featuring crafts handmade by Haitian artisans in the décor and collateral materials. One of the evening’s honorees actually travelled from Haiti to NYC.

•Added substantial video elements to the evening, including images of ATA’s work around the globe and testimonials to the value of their mission.

•Overhauled the information management system for the event by creating targeted prospect lists, uncovering new pools of donors, following up with donors, and transferring updated information into ATA’s database for future cultivation. The goal was not only to find new donors but to keep them.

•Reconceived the silent auction to reflect ATA’s mission by exclusively featuring handmade, artisanal, and sustainably produced lot items for bidding.

•Created a glamorous evening, gathering together new donors from the New York fashion and design community, while remaining true to ATA’s core values.

•More than doubled the gross revenue from 2009 to 2010 and made the event profitable again by managing expenses carefully.
