Alzheimer’s Association New York Rita Hayworth Gala

The Alzheimer’s Association is a national non-profit dedicated to eliminating Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; providing and enhancing care and support for all affected; and reducing the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Princess Yasmin Aga Khan began the Rita Hayworth Galas in honor of her mother, actress Rita Hayworth, who died as a result of Alzheimer’s. Bowen & Company was charged with re-energizing this annual New York fundraising event that also features a significant silent auction and is attended by over 600 of New York’s most prominent social, business and media personalities. In addition to the Gala, the assignment includes the coordination of two kick-off press events in the Hamptons and New York City.

  • Relocated the event to a new venue, Cipriani 42nd Street, to give it a new, fresh feel.
  • Partnered with the Association events team and a Gala Steering Committee of 30 prominent women to execute this year’s vision for the Gala.
  • Developed and integrated the event’s theme “Our Future is Crystal Clear” into elements including scripting, printed/digital collaterals and décor.
  • Revamped the evening’s program content by honing in on current Alzheimer’s facts and statistics; personal and moving stories demonstrating the facets of Alzheimer’s including living with Alzheimer’s and caregiving; and a call to action.
  • Oversaw development of Gala video including current Alzheimer’s statistics; interviews with honorees B. Smith and Dan Gasby; and testimonials from Association leaders and visionaries.
  • Liaised with the public relations team throughout the process to maximize opportunities for media exposure including social media.
