A Timeless Classic

In between planning our client’s special celebrations, Bowen & Company event producer Lauren Ferrara also managed to plan her own vintage-inspired nuptials on October 8, 2011.  The Hudson Valley ceremony took place at scenic Highlands Country Club in Garrison, NY.

The bride and groom knew that their wedding would be an intimate affair filled with close family and friends.  Personal, meaningful touches and bits of family history were infused into the guest experience at every turn, including unique design elements.  The bride’s grandmother’s locket was tied around her bouquet, black and white photos of the couples grandparents were on display, as well as an antique trunk which was used to collect gift cards.  An antique key provided inspiration for the couple’s custom-designed monogram and a way to display escort cards.

Highlands Country Club’s relaxed and welcoming atmosphere exuded warmth and easy elegance.  After the ceremony overlooking rolling hills and autumnal foliage, the cocktail hour’s occasional tables and plush couches beckoned guests onto the verandah and front lawn.   Guests kept cozy lounging around the open fire pits as an acoustic guitar player set the mood.  Signature seasonal drinks included mulled apple cider and sparkling pomegranate juice, and guests snacked on an array of passed hors d’oeuvres—including the bride’s favorite mini grilled cheese and tomato soup shooter.  The groom, however, likes to indulge his sweet tooth.  The custom dessert bar did not disappoint, offering red velvet cake pops, mini carrot-cake cupcakes, apple crisp, brioche donuts, and a variety of other delicious little treats artfully displayed.  Each guest received chocolate oatmeal cookies—homemade by the happy couple—as a remembrance of the event, which will remain timeless in the sweet memories of all who were fortunate to attend.
